The exhibition grew out of a project first launched by Chris Johnson in San Diego and became a collaborative piece linking Hank Willis Thomas, Bayeté Ross Smith, and Kamal Sinclair and is now composed of 1,500 questions and 150 men.

Against the backdrop of these questions, the group exhibition presents pieces by artists who have grown up with the Internet as well as those produced by an older generation and brings together works that explore, unclose and question pictorial worlds in addition to ultimately creating individual original works with the tools of the digital cosmos.

Felipe Pantone ponders these questions through the pieces made in Mexico in the last month, that he will present in his latest exhibition at Celaya Brothers Gallery.

A key ambition of the exhibition is to show artists in the specific contexts from which their pieces emerged, as well as speak to a historical and artistic evolution that both question and advance the conversation about the black effect.

The exhibition has deliberately distanced itself from an interpretation of the works based only on the country or cultural group from which they originate, with the aim of focusing visitors» attention on the questions inherent in the pieces.

Although previously the test pieces and small works were considered peripheral to the major work, this exhibition argues that, as well as being beautiful and meaningful objects in their own right, they force us to ask fundamental and pressing questions, not just about what an artwork is, but about the work that art does in our culture.
