Amazon Alexa and Google Home have teamed up with the Pokemon Company to allow fans to download a new
Pikachu Talk app that will allow your Alexa or Home to respond in the Pikachu voice.

It can be a bit jarring at first, listening to
Pikachu not only speak, but often
talk about how awesome he is or how much he loves coffee, which feels strange and out of place, but you quickly accept that Detective
Pikachu is different.
Something happens, you and
Pikachu are thrust into action interviewing people building your case, collecting evidence and solving other little issues around Ryme City to get people to
talk.
It's a bit of a relief to discover that Tim being able to
talk to him is not a normal occurrence and something else must be at play here, as opposed to a
Pikachu simply being able to
talk.
You can
talk to both humans and Pokémon, thanks to
Pikachu, and it yields interesting results.
That's right, you can
talk to any of the Pokemon in the game and have
Pikachu translate; as you'd expect some Pokemon are smarter than others, more arrogant, or bird - brained, and it's nice to see them follow their Dex entries.
While the alleged mystery behind Tim's
talking Pikachu becomes rather obvious early on, it doesn't detract from the game itself.
And remember that Ryan Reynolds is starring as the voice of the
talking hardboiled private eye

Talking of personalities, the titular
Pikachu, stuffs his face with sweets, adores coffee and is so quick to attack with a pun or a quip that his gruff voice will charm you and have you smiling in no time at all.

Generally gameplay has Tim exploring environments and
talking to people to gather information, occasionally calling upon
Pikachu to
talk to other Pokémon to get information from them as well.
Along the way, experience over 150 fun - filled animated cutscenes starring this unique
Pikachu, providing helpful hints or
talking up a storm.
Even the answers to the game's bigger questions about Tim's dad, the Pokémon outbreak, and why
Pikachu can
talk didn't end up scratching the mystery genre itch I had when first jumping in.
And in that spirit, we can safely say that it's impossible for us to imagine a game about a
talking pikachu who wears a deerstalker hat being any better than this.
In terms of gameplay most of your time is spent interviewing witnesses (
Pikachu translates for any pokémon you need to
talk to) and collecting clues.

Pikachu for the Nintendo 3DS along with The Alliance Alive; and new Switch titles such as Outlast 2, Castle of Heart, OPUS: Rocket of Whisper, Gekido Kintaro's Revenge, No Thing and others.
Apart from deviating from the main series» role - playing gameplay for a point - and - click style of experience, the game centers around a crime - solving and, yes,
talking Pikachu, which arguably is an approach that can be met with skepticism.

talks like a hardboiled Detective but can only be understood by Tim.
You can
talk to
Pikachu about anything, and you're sure to hear all sorts of wonderful and charming responses.
With the upcoming launch of the Detective
Pikachu game, we'll certainly see a
talking Pikachu again — but we'll remember the first time we saw this scene forever.
