When I ran two
Pixel phones side - by - side, one with Oreo (8.0.0) and the other with Nougat (7.1.2), the Oreo phone boots up a good 13 seconds faster.

While the new
Pixel phones do not feature wireless charging, like the new iPhones, they do come with squeezable
sides designed to activate Google's virtual voice assistant.

The power button and volume rocker on the right
side of the E4 Plus feel surprisingly clicky, and the front - facing fingerprint scanner works just as fast as my Google
Pixel running Android O. Near the top of the
phone is the earpiece for
phone calls, but this also doubles as a front - facing speaker that sounds way better than expected.
Active Edge on the
Pixel lets you squeeze the
sides of your
phone to launch Assistant.

phone and Apple says the new screen has Retina HD resolution, with 1334 x 750

For example, even without a second camera, the
Pixel 2
phones take some of the best portraits this
side of an DSLR, even besting Apple's stellar iPhone X.
Additionally, the Google
Pixel XL 2017 might feature a squeezy
side, just like we have seen on the HTC U11, which will allow you to interact with the
phone, primarily when using Google Assistant.
On the camera
side, the
phone as a dual rear camera setup with 12MP +8 MP sensors where the primary sensor has a f / 1.75 aperture, 1.4 μm
pixels, Dual Autofocus, etc..
Other rumored features include the ability to summon Google Assistant just by squeezing the
sides of these
phones, but it's not clear whether this feature will be limited to the larger
Pixel 2 XL.
Google Assistant works when you say «OK, Google,» but
Pixel 2 owners will also be able to summon Google Assistant by squeezing the
sides of their
phone.
Google's
Pixel 2 is a little on the chunky
side, but it's still a very capable
phone powered by a great experience and some impressive new software.
With awesome new upgrades like the S8's beautiful Super AMOLED display and HDR Dual
Pixel camera, you are going to want to protect your
phone from all
sides.
Step 2: On the right
side of your
Pixel phone, there is a power button and a larger, dual volume button.
Spending the last week with the Google
Pixel XL and LG V20
side by
side has convinced me the LG V20 may be the most underrated
phone of 2016.
Google has also brought the pressure - sensitive feature seen on the HTC U11 over the
Pixel 2, so now you can simply squeeze the
sides of the
phone to quickly access the Google Assistant.
One of the big problems is the viewing angles though - turn the
phone even slightly
side to
side and you'll see things get really dull in both brightness and color... it's a definite downside compared to last year's Samsung - made displays in the original
Pixel handsets.
Viewing photos
side by
side at typical sizes you'd be hard pressed to pick which one came from which
phone, and that's a great sign for the original
Pixel.
One of the highlights of
Pixel 2 will be HTC U11 - like squeezable
sides, which could be used to launch Google Assistant on the
phone.
The display on the Redmi 4A is HD display with a resolution of 720 x 1280
pixels and covers most of the front
side of the
phone.
On the Android
side of things, the Google
Pixel is another enticing
phone (I gave it a nearly perfect score after all).
A 13 - megapixel snapper (f / 2.0 aperture, 5p lens) is placed on the back of this
phone, and a 5 - megapixel camera (f / 2.2 aperture, 1.4 um
pixel size, soft LED flash, 82 - degree wide - angle lens) can be found on its front
side.
Droid Life didn't mention anything more about the
Pixel 2's specs, but based on earlier rumors reported by Android Police, we're probably looking at
phones sporting AMOLED displays with extra widescreen 18:9 aspect ratios, Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processors, 4 GB of RAM, stereo speakers and new pressure sensitive
sides that will let you squeeze the
phone to perform certain functions (most likely, summoning the Google Assistant).
I'm currently using a Google
Pixel 2 XL (which also has dual front - facing speakers), and
side by
side it's no contest: The Razer
Phone blew the
Pixel out of the water at the highest levels.
As an interesting
side note, it's actually possible to change the S8's resolution in the
phone's settings menu, shifting it from 1480 x 720
pixels to 2220 x 1080
pixels, and finally, 2960 x 1440
pixels.
The Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge both sport a 5.1 inch Super AMOLED screen with a 1440 x 2560 resolution that comes in at around 577 ppi
pixel density with the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge receiving a curved display that takes the screen over the
side edges of the
phone.
The color in the Mate 10 Pro photo looks much more natural than the cooler tones on the
Pixel 2 XL photo, but both are well - detailed, and the
Pixel wins points for being one of the only
phones to not overexpose the A symbol on the left
side on the tower.
It's called Active Edge, and it allows you to squeeze the

Pixel phone to quickly launch the Google Assistant.
Until this point, they've always stayed on the software
side of things and let Samsung and friends handle the hardware, but their new
Pixel phones are changing all of that.
The official unveiling of the second generation
Pixel devices isn't until the middle of this week, but new images have hit the web (thanks to @evleaks), showing us the front and back
sides of both
phones.
Both
phones offer a 1,080 p display, but because of the 18:9 aspect ratio on the Honor 7X, its longer
side comes in at 2,160
pixels over the Alcatel's 1,920
pixels.
From the images, it looks like both the
Pixel and
Pixel XL have large bezels at the top and bottom of the screen, along with prominent antenna bands along the back and
sides, and a mirror - finish panel taking up the top half of the
phones» rear where the camera and fingerprint sensor are housed.
There's also a bit more of a bezel on the
Pixel 2 XL than most other competing
phones, particularly on the
sides.
The
sides of the next
Pixel XL can reportedly be squeezed to activate software features, similar to HTC's latest flagship
phones.
Google rejuvenated the Android One program with the launch of the Moto X4, a
phone that has some similarities with the likes of Google Nexus and
Pixels, at least on the software
side of things.
On the camera
side, Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus has a single 12MP sensor on the back of the
phone with 1.25 - micron
pixels, f / 2.2 aperture, PDAF, and LED flash.
The
Pixel 2 does have more prominent bezels on the top, bottom and
sides in comparison to the bigger
phone.
There will also be more changes under the hood, especially on the software
side, with Google rumored to be working on an Android 7.1 Nougat OS that could remain exclusive to the two
Pixel phones.
It's worth noting, of course, that the
Pixel is still larger on all
sides than the Galaxy Note 7 (6.04 x 2.91 x 0.31), a true marvel of smartphone engineering with a 78.0 percent screen - to - body ratio, but any claims Samsung's 5.7 - inch
phone might have made for handset dominance have, sadly, been rendered moot by the occurrences of the last two months.
In fact, this is the closest thing to pure Android 7.1 this
side of a Google
Pixel phone.
The Google
Pixel 2 will borrow from the HTC U11 and feature squeezable
sides to perform different
phone functions.
The
sides of both
phones are metal, but their fronts are very different, as while the iPhone X is almost all screen, with just a small notch at the top, the
Pixel 2 has quite large bezels above and below the screen.
The images of the
Pixel 2 handset in cases posted to Mobile Fun also suggest that the
Pixel 2's screen will stretch even further, cutting the bezel on the top, bottom and
sides of the
phone down by half.
On the
Pixel 2 and
Pixel 2 XL, the rocker is on the right of the
phone, so the volume slider appearing on the right - hand
side of the screen makes sense.
Competing models like the Google
Pixel have used a physical fingerprint sensor on the
phone's backside to maximize the screen size on the
phone's front
side.
While a similar version of this feature can now be found on the
Pixel 2 and 2 XL, the HTC U11 was the first smartphone to properly flaunt the ability to squeeze the
sides of the
phone to initiate a command.
