Since I'm using the
Pixel Launcher, it has the awesome
Pixel widget built - in, which offers the date and
weather — tapping on these entries launches Google Calendar and Google
Weather, respectively.

Pixel phone were the
weather widget and the ability to type requests to Google Assistant — both small quibbles for sure.

I missed
Pixel features like swiping up to access the app drawer and the classy
weather widget, but from Sense's settings suggestions to the Flip to mute toggle, I generally enjoyed HTC's spin on Nougat.
In terms of design, one video shows off a lockscreen that is quite reminiscent of
Pixel Launcher's «At A Glance»
widget with the time, date, and
weather displayed.
An upgraded
Pixel Launcher (the app that powers the
Pixel 2 and first - gen
Pixels» home screens) moves the prominent Google search bar to the bottom of the screen, where it's easier to reach, and adds an optional «daily briefing»
widget that shows the current
weather, temperature, and upcoming calendar entries.
Every feature from the
Pixel Launcher was ported, including the G pill, Google Now and even the
weather / time
widget.
Other
Pixel Launcher features of note is the swipe up gesture to open the app drawer, a new
weather widget, and long press on app icons for quick shortcuts.
While it has been possible to install the
Pixel Launcher via an APK, some functionality, specifically the Google Now pull tab and the new
weather widget, didn't work unless the launcher was installed as a system app.
He says that launcher developers would need to rename their launcher with the same package name as the
Pixel Launcher in order for the
weather widget to work, but that would also keep those launchers from being published in the Google Play Store.
And the
Pixel Launcher, Google's proprietary home screen app, now comes pre-installed with an app drawer and
weather widget optimized for the tablet's screen size.
