It's baloney of course — the current
climate is the best
climate our planet has had in at least 500 years for human
health and prosperity, and green
plant growth rates.
The Met Office, working with other interested parties, is taking the lead in providing the advice and solutions government, veterinary experts and farmers will need to mitigate against the effects of
climate change on animal and
plant health in the future.
And it's pretty clear why: in addition to driving dangerous
climate disruption, these coal
plants are having enormous effects on human
health.
A growing number of
climate scientists have warned that if these nuclear
plants were to abruptly close, carbon emissions in New York will increase by more than 31 million metric tons during the next two years, resulting in public
health and other societal costs of at least $ 1.4 billion.
The
plant will use outdated technology and as a result will be a coal
plant with disproportionate emissions, impacts on human
health, water availability, and agricultural productivity in an age when any new coal
plant can not compete economically with renewable energy and is a
climate crime.
Besides the immediate impact on the
health of people living close to the
plant, emissions from coal - fired power
plants contribute to
climate change.
Coal - fired power
plants are the largest single source of
climate - disrupting carbon pollution in the nation, and these safeguards are our chance to start curbing these greenhouse gases and protecting the
health of our families now.
