Platinum status includes
benefits such as free
breakfast, 50 percent bonus points and upgrades to the best available room at check - in.
SPG Gold and
Platinum also does not convey any
benefits at Caesars Properties, so don't expect to be granted room upgrades or free
breakfasts.
I have Gold status with Hilton Honors thanks to my Amex
Platinum card and Hilton Gold status offers me a number of
benefits I consider valuable — like complimentary
breakfast and a late check - out — so that opens up the possibility of a stay at a Hilton property.

For example, the
Platinum Card from American Express offers Hilton Gold Status and SPG Gold Status, which allow you to take advantage of
benefits like room upgrades and free
breakfasts.
On (digital) paper, the program
benefits at the higher levels are limited, for example upgrades are not guaranteed for
Platinum, there are no suite upgrades and no free
breakfast.
On Marriott stays, I've been able to still receive Marriott
Platinum Elite
benefits like free
breakfasts, free internet, lounge access, upgrades to suites, and late check out.
This is a pheromonal
benefit because SPG
Platinum benefits are arguably better than Marriott's when it comes to
breakfasts and upgrades so this opens up more options for you.
Marriott
Platinums will be able to use their status at Starwood properties — and receive
benefits they haven't had before, like suite upgrades (if a standard suite is available at check - in the
Platinum is entitled to it, it's not strictly the result of a property's beneficence) and
breakfast at resorts.
