The inspiration to make this Vegan Cinnamon Roll

When the
cake comes out of the oven,
poke holes in the bottom of the
cake with a toothpick.
- Pour the batter into the prepared
cake pan, and bake for about 50 - 55 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center of the
cake comes out clean; allow the
cake to cool in the pan for about 5 - 10 minutes, then carefully turn it out onto a wire rack, and
poke a few holes with the wooden skewer into the top of it.

Fast forward lots of years, shortly after I
came to US while thumbing a magazine I saw a
poke cake make with Jell - o.
As soon as the
cake comes out of the oven, place the pan on a wire rack,
poke the
cake all over with a thin skewer, and brush it with about one - third of the syrup.
I mean, I have made a
poke cake before and it
came out great, but why
poke cakes in the summer?

The
cake is ready when a skewer or knife

comes out clean.
Top with a few tiny pieces of walnuts,
poking them slightly into the
cake so they don't
come out during baking.
Bake for 65 - 75 minutes or until toothpick used to
poke thorugh the center of the
cake comes out clean.
What first
came to mind was the old fashioned jell - o
poke cake that we all grew up on.
Test to see whether it's done by
poking a thin skewer in the centre of the
cake — if it's done it'll
come out clean with no
cake sticking to it.
If it all ends up
coming together successfully, the film gets to have its
cake and eat it too, wrapping itself in the familiar and cozy confines of the standard fare while positioning itself as the cool alternative by
poking fun, even if it might not be all that much of an alternative at the end of the day.
So I went to the hardware and craft stores,
poked around a bit and
came up with my very own, super easy, super inexpensive DIY wooden
cake stand.
