@bobbie thing is i am torn on qantas miles, long haul
awards are crazy expensive especially in
premium cabins and they add fuel surcharges to
awards even when there's no fuel surcharge on the ticket itself (like qantas international flights departing australia).
Another possibility is to do a mixture of
awards and paid flights and / or
even have one parent and the child travel separately, as my family often does, in order to book
premium class
award tickets.
Don't buy more than 4,000 miles — and
even then, make sure it's for a
premium award redemption.
