Enroll in the New Jersey
Probationary Driver Program: Like the Driver Improvement Program, this course knocks 3 points off your record.
A mandatory one year probation period begins if restoration is issued after a suspension for points or persistent violator, after completion of
a Probationary Driver Program (PDP) or Driver Improvement Program (DIP) or after an official warning issued by the MVC.
Enrolling in a defensive driving course will remove two points from your drivers record, while completing a driver improvement program or
a probationary driver program will take three points off of your NJ driving history.
If you received a notice in the mail from the MVC giving you an option to take a Driver Improvement Program, or a notice to take
the Probationary Driver Program, please read above content under Remedial Driver Programs for details.
Always requires drivers with probationary licenses to enroll in
the Probationary Driver Programs (PDP) if they accumulate 4 or more points due to 2 or more traffic violations during the 2 year probationary period.
