I tend to be a little Potter Stewart when it comes to
handling models in racing sims, but
Project Cars 2 passes my test with flying colors.

We're happy to report that
Project CARS on PS4 is very comparable to its PC counterpart, but there's still some plenty of fine - tuning required under the bonnet as the developers endeavor to achieve that magic 60 frames per second and further improve the
handling and AI under the watchful eye of the influential community.

He isn't new to the games industry, either — Collins joined the Slightly Mad Studios team as chief
handling and physics consultant in 2011 to work on the original
Project CARS game.
The vehicle
handling in
Project CARS very much divided sim racing fans with many believing the title to be more «gamey» rather than out and out simulation.
The former Stig from Top Gear, Ben Collins, and
Project CARS 2 game director Stephen Viljoen recently spoke to IGN to alleviate any fears that
Project CARS 2 would fall into the same trap of gamey
handling.
Coupled with the lack of publisher demands (which should prevent the possibility of another Shift situation where EA insisted on dumbing down the
handling), we can hopefully expect a thoroughly authentic physics engine when the final version of
Project CARS rolls out late next year.

As someone who's put in his time with GTR2 back in the day, and all the latest «simcades» on PC and console, the
handling in
Project Cars is decent but unreliable.
The
handling in
Project Cars is a mixed bag.
As I previously mentioned, aside from the vehicle
handling when it comes to racing in the ice and snow,
Project Cars 2 does give off a great sense of realism within its gameplay.
Slightly Mad is so confident in
Project CARS that they enlisted real racing drivers such as ex Stig Ben Colins and Formula 3 driver Oli Webb to make the
handling characteristics and racing vibe as authentic as possible.
You see, up to this point, I had found
Project Cars 2 to have some of the finest
handling and racing mechanics I had seen for some time in a racing game.
Featuring world - class graphics and
handling, a ground - breaking dynamic time of day & weather system, and deep tuning & pit stop functionality,
Project CARS leaves the competition behind in the dust.
From grasping the surface changes to
handling how downshifts and braking need to be managed on loose dirt,
Project CARS 2 throws its (in) famous realism at rallycross in hardcore fashion.
In terms of
handling, you'll find some folks championing Gran Tourismo and others cheering
Project Cars, but to my mind Forza hits the perfect balance of authenticity and mass - audience play ability.
Put the
handling to one side, and
Project Cars 2 is a
car enthusiast's dream.
