Psychodynamic therapy and

Unlike

psychoanalysis, which can go on for months or even years, the average length of a CBT treatment is about four months of weekly sessions — a perfect amount of time for a controlled trial.

First, the timeline and duration of
psychoanalysis is far more intensive than modern
psychodynamic therapy.
There is an interdependence between the dynamics of
psychodynamic and
psychoanalysis therapy that can be confusing.
While these ambiguous and untidy splotches of ink are closely connected to the Freudian
psychoanalysis, they are also used in some forms of
psychodynamic therapy today.
The practical conclusion to be drawn from this is that it is essential to discontinue the use of non-trauma-adapted
therapy approaches (
psychoanalysis, unmodified
psychodynamic therapy, traditional cognitive - behavioural
therapy) and to offer training courses in the methods and techniques of trauma exposure.
