The Older Women's Legal Education Project, a collaboration between West Coast LEAF and the Canadian Centre for Elder Law, aims to address a serious gap in existing
public legal education resources: information tailored to older women fleeing abuse.
Public legal education resources can help us understand the balance between the necessary powers of the police and the necessary rights of citizens.
The thing is, I don't think that anyone providing
these public legal education resources ever intended to focus on well - educated people.
The site is an excellent PLEI portal; it includes links to the many
public legal education resources in BC.
This initiative is unique because it brings together justice sector institutions as partners in the creation of a large - scale online
public legal education resource.

The millions of dollars we spend on
public legal education produces correspondingly valuable
resources, without a doubt, but those
resources can not equip litigants to comfortably and competently manage the system — especially those unable to devote themselves to the full - time study of
legal processes, those whose first language is not English or French, or those with cognitive or functional impairments — and, as a result, whenever we talk about litigants without counsel, the conversation inevitably veers toward the delays, costs and other inconveniences such litigants impose on court and counsel.
