The top three quarterbacks in this year's
draft class (considered a weak one for
QBs to begin with) have all been taken and few appealing options remain in free agency.
Russell Wilson was clearly the 3rd best
QB in his
class behind Luck and RGIII (a case could be made that he was better than RGIII), yet he got
drafted behind guys like Tannehill and Weeden because he was too short.
Also I don't know how good next yrs
class is I haven't looked yet but most here are saying Jackson would be
QB 1 if in next yrs
draft so it most likely wouldn't happen.
With the
draft class at hand, we can and should do better than this level of a
QB.
In this year's
draft class, I don't see an obvious franchise
QB.
What we also know is that this
draft class is uniquely positioned so as to have opinions really set in and subsequently that means we'll see some genuinely talented guys fall (Not only at
QB but in many other positions, too).
Year to year it's not an inefficient
draft strategy to pass on a
QB because all things relative to the
class.
This
draft class is skimp of any quality
QB's that can fill Ryan's cleats and we'd be wasting a
draft pick for some much needed improvements elsewhere..
That lack of consensus is representative of conversations I've had with NFL personnel evaluators, and it's why I think this is the most interesting
QB class in 19 years of evaluating the NFL
draft.
