Our hypothesis was based on results from previous massage (by a therapist) research that demonstrated increased
ROM after massage (2,20,38), and decreased muscle electromyography (3) and spinal motoneuron excitability (17,23,34) during massage.
The hamstrings and quadriceps strength was measured immediately
after measurements of range of motion (
ROM) and
massage with Cybex - II isokinetic dynamometer equipped with an x-y pen recorder.
