An interesting mix of
RPG,
roguelike and tower defense, that will please especially newcomers to the dungeon crawler
genre.
It's billed as a dungeon crawler, sort of a halfway home between a
roguelike and an Action
RPG, and though those two
genres may feel overplayed as of late, I promise you that you won't be disappointed if you give Wizard of Legend a shot on PC, PS4, XB1, or Switch when it launches later today.
Really though, as good as the
roguelike and action
RPG beats of Neon Chrome are, it's truly in the controls that the game shines brightest; deftly accommodating the sort of ultra-responsive movement and shooting synonymous with the classics of the
genre.
All of EO4's dungeon crawling takes place in the first person perspective, and borrows from the
roguelike RPG genre by equating each movement on a grid with one turn.
What's impressive about Dead in Vinland - part survival management, part
RPG, part
roguelike and part turn - based combat game - is that instead of being a Frankenstein's monster mashup, it pretty painlessly melds so many disparate
genres.
The gameplay experience, which mixes
roguelike and
RPG features, is so well crafted that even those who aren't exactly fans of this
genre will be able to enjoy the game fully.
