Readers trust even an unknown author if you have rated highly in lists, and / or earned bestseller status, maybe trusting you enough to buy your book though they've never heard of you.

Interesting — I do find as a
reader there is no way I can
trust what I see on Amazon to be a «good read» unless I either know the author,
trust someone who recommended it or it comes from a reputable house (and
even then there are disappointments!)
I want to live in a world... where «the reading public» (regardless of the inside - baseball interferences of literary professionals) consumes, likes, and engages with many different kinds of literary nourishment; and where writers, teachers, and critics
trust and
even expect
readers to do so.
It's
even better if your
trusted reader is a non-writer friend.
Now, if
readers think they can't
trust reviews of our books, we're
even more disadvantaged.
I'll let
readers decide how much such an individual can be
trusted with speaking anything near the bare, honest, transparent scientific truth in anything climate change, global warming or
even energy in general.
That way, any
reader can
trust that the manuals they're using won't break their devices
even more.
This is a great way to establish rapport and
trust with your
reader even before you have the chance to speak by phone.
