If you can't find these products and want a driftwood stain that you can use water - based poly over without changing the color, you can use

You would be better off using

I was planning on leaving the wood as is, but, after I had it on I ended up
staining it driftwood by
rustoleum.

stain and then use a matte water - based poly over it.

If you need to seal your piece, you may want to try
Rustoleum's
stain in Driftwood.
I started with a 20 ″ X 8 ″ X 1 ″ plank and
stained it using a combination of Minwax English Chestnut and
Rustoleum Kona.
We sanded everything down with 220 grit until it was as smooth as you can possibly imagine, and then
stained with
Rustoleum Dark Walnut.
Step 7: Get the
Rustoleum Summer oak
stain and foam brush and do 2 coats of
stain following manufacturers instructions.

stain, and it was exactly the look I was going for.

stained the boards with

stain in weathered gray.

Stain for the boards, (we used Kona by Minwax) Metallic spray paint for the pipes, (we used
Rustoleum Oil Rubbed Bronze) Lysol wipes to clean the pipes
The individual planks for the face of the headboard I used the following 3
stains: Provincial, Dark Walnut and I also used
Rustoleum Weathered Grey I DID NOT apply the Driftwood
Stain Technique to any of these boards.
Jamie opted to go for a finish that we saw at
Rustoleum this past week which was dabbing on different
stain colors and blending them together.
