has locked you out of
earning more of those via their Marriott credit card, the
SPG cards are another way to get a bunch more of those.
I simply added up how many
points you
'd earn on stays and then factored in how much those
points would be worth to compare programs like IHG, Marriott,
SPG, and Hilton.
I
'd be willing to argue that for non-frequent flyers,
earning 217,500 Membership Rewards might be easier than
earning 135,000 JAL miles in some instances, especially if you're limited to personal credit cards or are over 5/24 and can't
earn Marriott
points to convert to
SPG.
SPG points transferred in 20,000 increments will
earn you an extra 5,000 bonus miles, which means transferring 20,000
SPG points would equal 25,000 SKYPASS miles.
For example, let's assume you're able to jump on the 25K offer for both the personal and the business
SPG card, that means you'll
have close to 58K
SPG points after meeting the minimum spends and
earning the bonuses.
You'll need to
have one qualifying stay with
SPG before you're eligible to start
earning points.

It turns out that the Marriott Rewards card doesn't
earn the best return for Marriott
points and instead you
'd get more Marriott
points from using an
SPG card or Chase Sapphire Reserve.
You can
earn SPG points with co-branded credit cards, and it
has more airline transfer partners than any of the other credit card rewards programs.
If you
have a stash of
SPG points and looking to transfer them to a participating airline frequent program, you
would be better of transferring the
SPG points to Marriott Rewards at 1:3 ratio and then transfer them to airline frequent flyer program through the Marriott travel packages and
earn an additional 7 nights.
There are only two
SPG American Express credit cards, and both
have 25,000 -
point sign - up bonuses and average
earning rates.
