competition continues to unearth a host of amazing teachers and their truly inspiring ideas, to help level the playing field for every child in
school no
matter their circumstances.
In addition, the
Competition sponsor, F&C Investment Trust, is running a
schools» roadshow during 2018, hosting fun sessions on «Why Investing
Matters», with each entrant receiving a visit from the campaign bus (schedules permitting).
Two policy factors turn out to
matter considerably more: a larger private - education sector (which presumably introduces more
competition into the educational system) and the presence of a centralized examination system (which presumably holds students and
schools accountable).
That the public
schools are not gutted, that they're not collapsing, and that as a
matter of fact research shows that increased choice and
competition raises all boats, that they're going to say, «You know what; this program is helping kids.
Their
schools are small, they have one public
school system for the entire country, they do not engage in
competition or standardized tests, teachers make individual student success the priority and have the resources and freedom to do so, every
school has the similar resources no
matter its location, and all parents receive money from the state to help support each child... to name a few strategies explored.
As a high
schooler I competed in mathematics
competitions on the local, state, and national level, winning first place awards at all levels (in subject
matters all the way up through what colleges call Calculus 2).
