From its stellar contents, it is resembling other low surface brightness members of the local group such as
the Sculptor dwarf galaxy, but it is so highly obscured that it was hidden up to the 1994 investigation.
The new data indicate that stars in
the Sculptor dwarf galaxy move preferentially on elongated radial orbits.
Massari, Helmi and colleagues measured the proper motions of roughly a hundred stars in
the Sculptor dwarf galaxy.
A Carnegie - based search of nearby galaxies for their oldest stars has uncovered two stars in
the Sculptor dwarf galaxy that were born shortly after the galaxy formed, approximately 13 billion years ago.
