Seared Tofu A great way to get the kids to eat tofu!
Serve this sauce over a bowl of soba noodles, stir fried veggies and a hard boiled egg or
seared tofu or chicken.
Also tasty drizzled over roasted vegetables or
seared tofu.
I love the idea of tossing
the seared tofu right in, for a one dish, protein - packed lunch.
seared tofu 1 7.75 ounce block extra firm tofu 1/4 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon cumin 1/4 teaspoon chili powder 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper nob of coconut oil
Top each bowl with 4 slices of
the seared tofu and a good portion of the quick pickles.

seared tofu, a fried egg... really you could expand from here a million ways.
When read to make sandwiches heat sesame and chili oil in a pan together and
sear the tofu for 2 - 3 minutes on each side until well charred.
Sometimes I pan
sear some tofu until it's crispy and toss this on top (great with toasted walnuts, shredded apples + cabbage), sometimes some chicken I've grilled.
Sear the tofu: Make sure you get extra firm tofu or the «super firm high protein'tofu that comes in clear packaging rather than the plastic box.

When the pan is hot, add the
tofu and
sear 2 - 3 minutes per side until golden brown.
I added
seared teriyaki
tofu.
Think salmon topped with a sautéed tomato, tuna topped with a creamy
tofu sauce, hamachi sitting beneath thin slices of jalapeno pepper, fluke under a pine nut studded green salad, chopped eel with sesame and avocado and lightly
seared tuna with an onion mixture and garlic chips.
The garlic grilled
tofu had a nice smoky flavor and there was a wonderful flavor crust, just like I would want in reverse
seared steak or pork chop.
Top with baked
tofu steaks,
seared salmon or marinated tempeh for protein.

tofu dish..
When I think stir - fry I think crisp,
seared veggies and
tofu with a nice skin, chewy and charred.
Top with
seared / baked tempeh or
tofu if desired, and enjoy right away.
Marinated +

tofu (I used a favorite recipe from Amy Chaplin's cookbook).
Cooked shrimp,
seared tuna, marinated
tofu / tempeh, radishes, shredded carrot and and steamed asparagus would be fun additions.
This is the peanut sauce of the gods: a gingery peanut sauce with curry powder that will have you licking the spoon, then licking your plate... I love it with some flash - steamed kale and simply prepared
seared cubes of
tofu.
I baked my
tofu before pan
searing it, in order to get that texture.
I ended up
searing them on the stove top which made them still delicious but it's not the same as that slow baked
tofu texture that I love.
You can add pressed
tofu instead and
sear first to keep up the protein content of the recipe.
Also great with
seared zucchini and onions, and baked
tofu in place of lentils.

tofu in some olive oil — is a great way to lock in warming spices while creating a little crust on the exterior of the
tofu (a
searing process that adds some textural appeal to the otherwise..., unremarkable cube).
My favourite vegan protein is

seared.
There are the blueberry cornmeal pancakes made with pecans, fresh salads and soups, grilled summer vegetables and
tofu on sweet corn and faro,
seared polenta with spicy heirloom tomato sauce, and a house favorite: soba noodles with edamame, carrots, and green onions in peanut sauce.
Let the coconut oil get nice and hot, then allow the
tofu to get a nice
sear on it before you begin stirring it around.
