On September 2, 2017, the federal government published the proposed regulatory text of the Breach of
Security Safeguards Regulations (Regulations) made under the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
On April 18, 2018, the Canadian government published long - awaited Breach of
Security Safeguards Regulations specifying the requirements for notifying the Office of the Privacy Commissioner and affected individuals of data breaches that pose a «real risk of significant harm.»
In September, the government released proposed Breach of
Security Safeguards Regulations giving more information about amendments from the Digital Privacy Act that impact Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act.
