and sew elastic to the two
sides on the
bottom, keeping it from sliding off.
Fold the two short
sides under
and sew the lace in place at the
bottom of the bag.
After
sewing the edge, you can fold the clutch to your desired size, pin the
sides,
and then
sew the bias tape around the rest of the clutch (except not across the
bottom).
In other words, if it is folded,
sew the
bottom and the long
side so that it becomes a tube that is roughly 12 inches by six inches with one six inch
side open.
Then I
sewed the lining to the kimono with right
sides together along the
bottom hemline
and along the center front seams with a 1/2 ″ seam allowance.
The only other option I see for the sleeves would require putting a hem on the
bottom of a sleeve or leaving the
side seams until later in the construction (

and then turning the lining in first)

Is it easier to
sew each
side together without attaching to itself
and then add in the
bottom piece?
