Fortunately, Florida law states that any person holding himself out as a
sex therapist must be a licensed mental health professional who has completed specialized training and
supervision in
sex therapy.
To have received a minimum of thirty (30) hours of individual and group
supervision of his / her
supervision of
sex therapy from an AASECT Certified Supervisor.
All supervisors must prepare and submit to the AASECT office a
supervision contract for each
sex therapy supervisee prior to commencing individual or group
supervision.
Individuals beginning
supervision toward AASECT
Sex Therapy Certification must be members of the organization at the time the
supervision contract begins.
However, if you have the need, you can complete additional hours of
supervision (maximum of five) to meet the requirements in section VI
Sex Therapy Training.
The applicant shall have completed a minimum of fifty (50) hours of
supervision with an AASECT Certified Supervisor of
Sex Therapy.
Face - to - face
supervision with an AASECT Certified Supervisor cannont be used toward the required Human Sexuality Education or
Sex Therapy Training hours of the
Sex Therapist Certification Application.
• These five (5) additional
supervision hours can be counted toward meeting the requirement of the 60 hours of
Sex Therapy Training.
As an AASECT Certified Supervisor for Sexuality Counselor and
Sex Therapy candidates, Linda and Constance can each provide individual and / or group
supervision for those interested in expanding their skills or becoming a formally certified AASECT Sexuality Counselor or
Sex Therapist.
1) Engage in such activities as will encourage and provide for improvement in the quality of sexuality education, sexuality counseling,
sex therapy, and practitioner
supervision in the field of sexuality.
4) Foster research in the methods and techniques of sexuality education, sexuality counseling,
sex therapy, and practitioner
supervision in the field of sexuality.

sex therapy, and work under
supervision with Dr. DeMarco.
