Compiled by scientists at 13 federal agencies, it contains the results of thousands of studies
showing that climate change caused by greenhouse
gases is affecting weather in every part of the United States, causing
average temperatures to rise dramatically since the 1980s.
Those modifications include stop — start (idle - off) systems in which the engine shuts down when the car is stopped during driving; low rolling - resistance tires (which are harder and thus less flat, reducing friction); variable valve timing for engines, which increases
gas consumption efficiency; and fuel economy computers or displays to encourage eco-driving, such as such as those in the Toyota Prius, which
show miles per gallon
averages for that moment, hour, week or month, or when riding downhill, so that drivers are more aware of how their driving impacts fuel efficiency.
«Our results
show that the uncertainty estimates of greenhouse
gas inventories depend on the calculation method and on how the input data for the model, such as weather and litterfall data, have been
averaged,» says Aleksi Lehtonen, researcher at the Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke).

average temperature on the hottest days by late this century (2081 - 2100) relative to 1986 - 2005 under a scenario that assumes a rapid reduction in heat - trapping
gases (RCP 2.6) and a scenario that assumes continued increases in these
gases (RCP 8.5).

These consist of: a charge / assist gauge, which indicates whether the hybrid system's electric motor is assisting the gasoline engine or whether the battery is being recharged; an ECO light, which
shows when the car's instant
gas mileage is meeting or exceeding the
average EPA rating; and an Autostop readout on the tachometer, which indicates that the engine has been cut during idling.

gas prices barely budged in the past month, according to the American Automobile Association. The auto club's monthly survey
showed that the
average price for self - serve regular unleaded decreased only 0.1 cent from the January price of $ 1.292 per gallon.Prices remain about 18 cents higher than they were a year ago.
With the ongoing news of rising
gas prices in the US — even if they still are half that of Europe — and the shocking stat that the
average American works two hours a day just to afford their car, here's a rather hopeful stat on automobile dependency to attempt to balance that out: A new radio interview from Australia's The Science
Show reveals that even with growing car ownership in many so - called emerging economies, on a global basis car ownership per capita has peaked.
The chart below
shows how this inverse relationship can work: when monthly hydropower generation dips under 10 - year
average levels, monthly natural
gas generation often rises above its 10 - year
average in response.
Climate scientists have already

Maps

gases (B1) and a higher emissions scenario that assumes continued increases in global emissions (A2).

A paper that Joules Verne, of all people, sent to me that examines this extreme limit
shows explicitly that if there is a thermal lapse across this
gas it has a weak asymmetry in its conductivity that makes
gas relax thermal gradients from top to bottom slightly faster than it does gradients from bottom to top, but the split smoothly vanishes as the gradient does, strongly suggesting that even in this limit if we (correctly) require that the length of a vertical parcel to be much greater than the MFP (and hence much much greater than) the bulk
averages will still satisfy the usual kinetic theory and I have a sneaking suspicion that overall they will still satisfy the MB distribution, even though the
average itself will be extremely odd.
Experiment 4

This point was also made by Schmidt et al. (2014), which additionally
