Starting this month, four of the largest credit
card companies — Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover — will stop
requiring signatures on purchases.

For foreign travel, go for the chip, don't hold out for a PIN — Having a credit
card with an EMV chip will make it easier to get around in Europe, but don't insist on one that

With the former, the

Instead, the Fidelity Rewards Visa
Signature card sets itself apart from its competitors by
requiring cardholders to deposit their earnings into an approved savings vehicle, such as a retirement account or a 529 college savings account.
In the U.S., though banks are issuing chip
cards, they are mostly chip - and -
signature cards, which do not
require entry of a PIN.
It is possible that some vendors will
require you to still sign for your purchases (just as with a Chip &
Signature card).
American Express said it will no longer
require its merchants to
require a
signature when its
card is used for a purchase.
This includes almost all credit
card offers, coupon mailers, sweepstakes entries, magazine offers and insurance promotions, as well as any catalogs you specify (and, because some direct marketing companies
