I try to give credit for
others thoughts or ideas whenever I know I am using them but I am sure,
since I
read a lot of
others blogs, articles, and
books some of what I think are my ideas have developed from a combination of my personal life experience and ideas or thoughts I have
read or heard.
Fortunately, I do not have to worry about that possibility
since I like the
book very much, and urge
others to
read it, lovingly.
But in the ten years
since I
read that
book, I have found a few
other characteristics, or traits, or practices of Jesus which Yancey overlooked, and which has made Him come alive to me in a whole new way when I
read the Gospels.
I was thinking of saying something similar about Brian, but
since I have only
read a few of Brian's
books, and never met him, I didn't know for sure where he stood on absolute truth, or some of the
other questions Glenn brought up.

books about non-violence over the past several years, I noticed many themes and ideas which this author pulled from
other authors, but this author rarely cited these
other authors.

It seems to me that both Against the Nations and The Peaceable Kingdom, the two
books Hauerwas has published
since which directly develop his views in Christian theology (he has published
other books in the time on
other topics), can be
read in the light of them.
But interestingly enough, my older one took a LOT longer to figure out
reading and progress to chapter
books — whereas my youngest who will be 6 at the end of July declared in June that
since she will be in Grade 1 in Sept she only
reads Chapter
books now and cleaned out all
others (and I mean real Chapter
books, not grade 1
books posing as chapter
books).
