It
was announced earlier this year that
Sledgehammer games would
be the third developer
working on Call of Duty, alongside Infinity Ward and Treyarch, and the each
game would now get three full years of development time.
During their financial call Activision have revealed that the next Call of Duty
game in the juggernaut franchise to
be developed by
Sledgehammer games, the company that previously
worked alongside Infinity Ward
on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.
We
're still not totally clear
on just how the next Call of Duty will make use of the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4's new hardware but we do know that
working with new tech
is why Activision has brought in
Sledgehammer so that Treyarch, Infinity Ward and
Sledgehammer each get 3 years to develop their
game.
Sure they
work on different
games, but if
Sledgehammer Games pulls in one creative direction with the inclusion of the exoskeletons, then there
are expectations the next developer will have to do the same.
Infinity Ward will handle the single - player
game while
Sledgehammer Games and Raven Software
are working on the multiplayer.
The mystery
is exactly which
game this will
be for, as
Sledgehammer is currently not known to
be working on a Call of Duty Title.
Honestly, this isn't much of a surprise at all, seeing as how job listings for
Sledgehammer openly announced that the company would
be working on the next CoD
game.
There
are hints that this partnership
is a one
game gig, and that
Sledgehammer wants to
work alone
on its next title, which it surely envisages to
be in the Call of Duty brand.
Subtitled Advanced Warfare, the
game is due out
on 4 November, and will
be developed by San Francisco - based studio
Sledgehammer, which previously
worked on Modern Warfare 3.
