People like NP (and myself, when I started my long journey away from the beliefs I once held so strongly) have begun to wrestle back control of those areas of the thought process that were off limits for so long.
I agree with NP and Brian — we need to extend love to that person — that doesn't mean we admonish their actions — but that we deal with the reality of the situation in a gentle / meek manner (God forbid we ever find ourselves in that predicament — so be merciful).
From what I can tell (generalizing, maybe overstating) most of the respondents on NP's threads are already compassionate, loving, righteous... good and decent folk; and so we're already drawn in and not in need.
