To walk with Christ is to hear His teachings of truth,
and to live His priorities of
mercy, being faithful towards Him,
and giving
social justice (Matt 23:23).
Like (the Apostle) Matthew he has answered the call of Jesus, who said «follow me»
and he inspires us with his words
and deeds, his humility
and his
mercy and his missionary impulses to serve the cause of
social justice,» Obama said.
Within this Augustinian framework,
social justice and racial reconciliation are works that extend the
mercy of Christ to the earthly city.
