This is exactly the kind of sequel the franchise has been begging for for two decades, and the kind of
Sonic experience Sega has tried to create themselves in the past, but couldn't quite get right (Sonic Generations was probably their best attempt).

Sonic games - while that couldn't happen,
Sonic Forces» custom character recognizes that fan desire - the avatar was created with the idea of «making straight high - speed action» - this time the concept is that all three styles (Modern, Classic, Avatar) would be high - speed based - make selections for the face, mouth, body color, and gender of custom characters - each species will also have their own unique skills, such as wolves being able to pull nearby rings - you can't change custom characters in the middle of the game - there is some sort of feature that's unlocked after you've cleared the game once related to this - the new avatar style will have a speedy and rhythmic style like Modern
Sonic, but also different vectors from
Sonic - this includes differences in timing for pressing buttons, or the Wisps giving the avatar trickier movements - the story aims to depict heroes that would feel like
Sonic - by controlling different characters, the devs hope to show a story that extends to explaining the world setting as well - the story concept has been «Hero Army vs. Eggman's Army» from the start - when wondering who should be made playable among the heroes, the idea came up for Classic
Sonic - the character setting for the avatar is a civilian in an area occupied by Eggman who stands up and fights together with
Sonic - during stages, you'll hear radio contact from partners like Tails and Amy -
Sonic and the rest of the gang form a resistance to stand against Eggman's army, so they relay information from headquarters - boss characters like Chaos and Metal
Sonic will appear in Eggman's army - details on the new character (Infinite) are being kept secret - the main part of the storyline is that Eggman gathers strong enemies in the past to form an all mighty army - some people might be wondering why Shadow is on the enemy's side, but they can find out more by
experiencing the story - the team thinks Japanese fans are taking a liking to the serious story and character customization features - there were some struggles with the new engine in early stages, but now they've moved to a smooth development process - the team knew they wanted to bring the game to Nintendo's new console before they even knew it was the Switch - the Switch info came to them during the middle of the game's development -
SEGA knew Nintendo fans would want to play
Sonic's new game, which is why they personally worked to bring it to Switch -
SEGA plans to show the game in Japan at Tokyo Game Show 2017 in September - the team is also working on providing new information, including news that would be unique to Japan
Sega fans will love
Sonic and
Sega All - Stars Racing, and Mario Kart aficionados will dig the quality racing
experience.
With Puyo Puyo Tetris,
Sonic Team and
Sega mix block puzzler Tetris with the gelatin - matching Puyo Puyo for an excellent puzzle game that surprises with its deep gameplay and excellent multiplayer modes, making it an entertaining
experience for all ages.
Still, Green Hill Paradise Act 2 is arguably the best 3D
Sonic experience ever made, and
Sega should take notes on what makes the game so endearing to players.
SEGA is pulling out all the stops, giving fans their first chance for hands - on demos of Alien: Isolation,
Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric and
Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal, and a variety of ways to
experience these franchises, both onsite and off.
As before,
Sonic's stages played great, and the music was fantastic — however,
SEGA's insistence on including weird and gimmicky mechanics, such as areas where you control Tails in a mech, bogged down the
experience somewhat.
If you read my profile here on

Sonic the Hedgehog with being at the centre of my «formative gaming
experiences», despite the fact that the first game I ever played to completion was actually Castle of Illusion on the Mega Drive / Genesis.
In 2008, I joined

experiences that I will be forever grateful for.

Much as I love Mario Kart, it's not perfect, and I feel that
SEGA's
Sonic &
SEGA All - Stars Racing has overall managed to surpass it as a more enjoyable, more competitive, and overall more skill - based
experience.
There is an overwhelming amount of gameplay style, replayability and
experiences to be had here, and the
Sonic Team and
Sega should be truly commended.
Today,
SEGA ® unveiled a brand - new trailer featuring sketch animation to announce an August 15 launch date for the game, as well as reveal a $ 19.99 USD / $ 25.99 CAD price point, making
Sonic Mania an amazing
experience at a fantastic price.

You punch and kick your way to victory across several different modes (including a new

SEGA characters and franchises.
If anyone has ever played the homebrew game
Sonic Megamix for
Sega CD, you will know that the homing attack does work in a 2D
Sonic game and, in fact, can enhance the
experience and feeling of speed.
Sumo Digital (
Sonic &
Sega All - Stars Racing) has taken Infinity's driving gameplay to the shop, tweaking the handling and drifting to provide a smoother
experience.
Sonic Jump by
SEGA attempts to repackage the whole platforming
experience of its bigger platformers in to a basic jumper, and surprisingly, it fits perfectly.
There's one thing we here at
SEGA Nerds love about the
SEGA community: the ability to bring so many fans together to create something beautiful, be it amazing artwork, the Summer of
Sonic events, or a magnificent
SEGA - themed album musical
experience.
Since the release of
Sonic 3 and Knuckles on the
SEGA 32X,
Sonic hasn't truly had a console 2D Console
experience until
Sonic 4 released back in 2010, and though the game was average at best, it still didn't feel like a true
Sonic game.
For the first time ever in a
SEGA game, full - motion body control will allow players to race through a range of visually stunning courses in an action - packed
Sonic experience unlike any other!
I finally broke out of this conditioning in the early 90s after
experiencing Sonic the Hedgehog on a
Sega Megadrive for the first time, astonished at what console gaming really was.
Sonic Mania embodies the origins of
SEGA's past and the wonderment of what
SEGA fans
experienced when they loaded the games into their Mega Drives back in the 90s.
