Sonic Forces starts out like a lot of
Sonic games do: with Dr. Eggman (ROBOTNIK DAMMIT!)
Sonic games don't get more classic than these four.
Now If this new Sonic game didn't have the 4 marque, I would respect it as a new addition to the NEW Sonic games with a retro twist.
just because you grew up with the original sonic games doesn't mean you get more say over what goes in the game than anyone else, heck to be honesst none of us has control over that no matter how much of a fan we are, that's sega's decision.Just think about it like this.

Offering the proverbial something for everyone, Not only
does it give Cube owners (and PS2 owners, if you get the PS2 version) the chance to get to grips with some of the lesser known, but ultimately brilliant
Sonic games of yesteryear (which are still great now), but also give the long suffering Sega masses the chance to finally play
Sonic the Fighters on a home console.

On the outside this may seem to be just another way to squeeze money out of
Sonic's name, but once you play the
game you may find, as I
did, that this is one of the most refreshingly fun racers in a long time.
It's also so fast that you can't really control
Sonic's turning, but that never matters because the
game either puts up barriers or helps to guide
Sonic round corners in these segments, meaning all you are literally
doing is holding down one button and are able to defeat Eggman's forces.
Sonic Forces is not a bad
game; those of you who
do really enjoy the gameplay mechanics of Generations or Colors, you'll be in for a treat.
Instead now, where
Sonic Team wants to show off
Sonic's impressive speed, the
game takes control and doesn't really let you
do anything.
His familiar loveable form from
Sonic Generations has made a return and, even though he doesn't speak throughout the
game, his interactions with Tails, Eggman and the other characters are quite brilliant at times.
Generally my favourite genre's are third - person action titles, fighting
games and RPG's - I grew up with platformers like
Sonic, but they don't make «em like they used to!
Nah, I don't really think so — but I
do think that getting
sonic as an exclusive, as well as platinum
games were good steps in the right direction.
I love this
game, Got it last year and i still play it a lot Don't listen to the negative reviews they don't know what a good
sonic game is when they play it!
Most of the events have been
done better in
games such as Wii Sports Resort and Mario and
Sonic at the Olympic Winter
Games, so their inclusion in this title feels derivative and poorly executed.
The rest of the Switch
games Nintendo discussed didn't get solid release dates, but are coming to Switch during northern summer:
Sonic Mania, Project Mekuru, Namco Museum and Sine Mora Ex.
That just doesn't seem to happen with
games like
Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice.
I don't expect for Nintendo to go the exact same route and provide the same level of track variety as the
Sonic Racing
games, but why not one, just one cup of only four stages that are inspired by other Nintendo properties besides Mario?
Easily the best
Sonic game to be released since
Sonic Adventure 2 on Dreamcast — don't @ me —
Sonic Mania is set to get just that little bit better this summer with the release of
Sonic Mania Plus.
Don't make things worse by buying the
game, streaming it for profit, and then returning it afterward simply because you detest the current state of the
Sonic franchise.

Sonic game of the year is out now on PS4 / Switch / Xbox One / PC, but how
does it compare to Mania?
yup just as i thought your not a Nintendo fan first party
games i really don't care for alot 3rd party
games such as first person shooters but racing
games is what i like just depends what
games i like playing such as Zelda,
Sonic, Mario, Rayman Legends, Pikmin3 etc..
I
do agree that there are some parts in the design that could be improved, but for the most part, I died because I sucked, not because it was the
game's problem (unlike a lot of the recent
Sonic games, where yeah, you're going to die for no reason).
Kyle: I've barely touched anything of
Sonic since the 2D era, so I don't really know enough to like or dislike the 3D
games.
And yes, I realise
Sonic Boom is technically a spin - off series, so SEGA normally goes a little crazy, mixing up the gameplay — but they can still make a good
game, like they
did with
Sonic Colors.
Most of the people I spoke to at Summer of
Sonic about
Sonic Boom shared the same sentiment that I
did about the powers - saying it felt forced, broke the flow of the
game and made it feel linear, especially in comparison to
Sonic Mania.
While I wouldn't normally recommend watching an almost feature length video about a
games franchise, Shay has some incredibly interesting things to say about what works and what doesn't regarding
Sonic gameplay mechanics.

A love letter to the old days featuring both remixed classic levels and all - new zones, the greatest compliment that can be paid to
Sonic Mania is to say that it truly
does feel like another
game that fell right out of
Sonic Team in the mid 90s.
However, playing it more recently, the
game does feel rather «janky» compared to other
Sonic titles of the era.
Regardless of your feelings for later
games, it was about time we get something that didn't just pay tribute and keep pace with
Sonic's peak, but sometimes took the lead and outsped those classics.
For a
game that is four years old
Sonic Team
did not
do a half bad job of trying to update it.
While we
do enjoy a lot of
Sonic fan
games out there, many of them feel more like rehashes of the classic
games or just demos / unfinished projects.
Unlike some lesser
games in the franchise, there's nothing cynical about
Sonic Forces — I felt like
Sonic Team was
doing their best to entertain me every minute I was playing.
Please don't be another
Sonic game.
A really good platformer that
does a much better job of evoking the
Sonic gameplay than recent
Sonic games ever could.
Sonic Forces» story doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but I have to admit, I found the
game's writing less grating than most other recent
Sonic entries.
For all of
Sonic Rivals shortcomings there is a part of me that still
did enjoy this
game, and I think that mostly comes from the fact that this is a
Sonic game.
It is a broader
game, a different sort of
Sonic than what we've
done before.
The racing just doesn't seem to have all of the depth that you would expect from a
Sonic racing
game, and the lack of interaction in the races makes it a bit tougher to continue to enjoy this
game.
I Don't know about this i'd love it be awesome can someone make me a promise that if its awesome they will let me know then i can buy it, I just really struggle trusting
sonic games these days not bashing sega but you guys probably feel the same to some extent
sonics hit and miss these days mostly miss for me im afraid.
However in this version of
Sonic, you have a
game that really fails to
do anything but disappoint.
So how
does Sonic Rivals
do in becoming a great racing
game?
We get the impression that
Sonic Team wanted Forces to be the Best
Sonic Game Ever, with a Greatest Hits package of everything good in the series, but they didn't have the time, money or talent to accomplish this.
I have always theorized that
Sonic games can work in 3D, all it needs is someone other than
Sonic Team to
do it.
Meaning we don't have a full list of the
games to be included as of yet, but looking at the box art, there will be the expected popular titles such as
Sonic the Hedgehog, Streets of Rage and Golden Axe, to name a few.
For example, instead of fading to a black screen between acts like the original
Sonic the Hedgehog
game did, Green Hill Zone Act 2 now begins directly at the end of Act 1, like in
Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and
Sonic & Knuckles.
I don't regret my choice one bit, however, if I had known more about the
game, I would have realised that it is not just the Green Hill Zone of
Sonic the Hedgehog 1 on offer, but rather a remake, with a brand new added underground section.
