In its current state it won't please any of the defiant fans who
grew up with the 2D
games, or those who enjoyed the likes of
Sonic Adventure.
Generally my favourite genre's are third - person action titles, fighting
games and RPG's - I
grew up with platformers like
Sonic, but they don't make «em like they used to!
My only
games growing up were Pacland for Commodore 64,
Sonic and Columns for Sega Mega Drive, and later Tomb Raider 4 for PC.
As we were developing the
game, fully aware that we were making this great
game for people who have been loving the 3D
Sonic high - speed action titles, we also know we have this really hardcore group who
grew up playing it on the Megadrive and the Genesis that want that pixel - based classic
Sonic game that are always like, «Where's my 2D
game?!»
Sonic the Hedgehog may still be one of the single biggest names in video gaming history, but fans who have
grown up alongside Sega's blue speedster have found that too few of the newer
Sonic games have been able to capture the series» original charm.
Much like the effect of having
Sonic the Hedgehog in Brawl and fighting Mario was a heavy moment for many
gamers who
grew up in the SNES / Genesis days, Pac - Man can bring an equally awesome rivalry with Mario to the forefront of the next Smash Bros
game.

My parents didn't necessarily support my interest in gaming when I was
growing up, so I was limited to my Sega Genesis with
Sonic Spinball, Boogerman, Eternal Champions, Dinosaurs for Hire and the WWF and Mortal Kombat
games (sans MK1, even though it was the very first
game I had ever played).

Growing up playing

Sonic and Shenmue since 1991, only until recently has he figured out that his passion is to develop them.
You do remember that their are fans that didn't just
grow up with the SEGA genesis and
grew up with the Dreamcast with

i would just like to say a few things i agree on people saying about the running animation that is pretty bad, we have seen 2 seconds of the
game we cant judge it yet so stop moaning we cant have old school
sonic,

sonic has had a homeing attack since 1999 so getting rid of that would be getting rid of a part of

I
grew up playing
Sonic games, and it was
Sonic 3 and Knuckles which inspired me to pursue
game design as a career.
Of course, I'm also a nostalgic / modern
gamer, I
grew up w /
Sonic 2.
Yet I
grew up with a SEGA MegaDrive and
grew up with the classic series of two - dimensional
SONIC THE HEDGEHOG
games... basically, I'm exactly who this new title is designed for!
I
grew up with the Genesis
Sonic games, but I actually like his modern design more.
This
game was targeted at the retro fans, NOT the modern day fans who
grew up from
Sonic Adventure onwards.
I hate
Sonic's new design; I think I speak for all the old skool fans who
grew up with classic
Sonic, so to see his new design in this
game is wrong.
People that
grew up with
Sonic 1 and genesis
games thinks their opinion counts more that the other ones and are better.
That's fine — I respect the old - school opinions (heck, I
grew up playing this
game), and likewise I'm delighted there are so many fans of the obscure characters and plotlines that make
up the
Sonic mythology.
just because you
grew up with the original
sonic games doesn't mean you get more say over what goes in the
game than anyone else, heck to be honesst none of us has control over that no matter how much of a fan we are, that's sega's decision.Just think about it like this.
if you wont buy the
game only because of its a 3d side scroller (more appealing to the eye any way) and the fact that
sonic grew up some then your not a level headed fan.
Sonic CD was a great
game but if you release a version that most people did not
grow up with then why should they buy it?
Gamers who
grew up during the 16 - bit console wars always wondered if Nintendo's Super Mario and Sega's
Sonic the Hedgehog would ever appear together in the same
game, and while everyone at the lunch table had his or her own idea about how the two titans may someday clash, very few people would have predicted the setting of the battle to be Beijing.
Then it's the JAPANESE VIDEO

games through their presence on Nintendo consoles, the most memorable of which being

I
grew up with the original
Sonic games and this is so good.
In all honesty, I
grew up playing «the other» console, so I never really played any SEGA
games when I was younger, but if I had to choose, I'd say there's a special place in my heart for
Sonic the Hedgehog 1 and Afterburner.
