While Ruiner doesn't wholly embrace the challenge and progression of the Dark
Souls series there is still a small sense of it which is a pretty big achievement in a — let's face it — arcade - style game.

For an outsider rather perplexed by the overwhelming success of The Hunger Games
series (both the young adult books and the mainstream movies), Divergent is partly more of the same, but
there's also a bit more
soul and relatability in Divergent's simple message: Don't give up.
There is still hope for the
series to continue, however, as Miyazaki concedes that he wouldn't rule out other developers from his studio taking up the mantel, as was the case for Dark
Souls II.
There's one thing everyone knows about Dark
Souls regardless of whether they've played it or not: the
series is extremely difficult.

After giving up on the
Souls series with Dark
Souls (not getting past one of the bosses
there), this game is truly excellent, and I remember why I liked Demon
Souls so much.

There's no denying that Deck13 was influenced by FromSoftware's fantastic
Souls series when they created Lords of the Fallen.
There's seemingly too much of the 7
Series philosophy of executive comfort at work and not enough of the driver - focused mojo that remains the heart and
soul of the 2
Series.
Just a few years ago
there was a self - help craze over the Chicken Soup for the
Soul book
series.
For the Inspirational Daily Deal,
there are over 120 books from Jack Canfield's Chicken Soup for the
Soul series.
There are elements of the
series present, like boxes and some familiar logos, but the
soul of the franchise isn't present.
While
there is a sense of slow progression, much like the
Souls series,
there is also an increased sense of speed.
Sure, the combat is still brutal and players will die quite a few times, but
there's a levity to Necropolis that keeps it from feeling like a cel - shaded clone of From Software's
Souls series.
There's little doubt though, that while Dark
Souls as a
series is
soul - shatteringly hard, it's also one of the more popular niche games to arise in the last generation of consoles.
And while a
series of perfectly timed dodge rolls or sword swipes can be immensely satisfying, the bulk of the Dark
Souls community's fascination doesn't begin and end
there.
This mechanic works in a
series like Dark
Souls because the boss can and will punish you for not watching for their tells, but in Kiwami
there many times isn't a deterrent to doing so except for nulling out the damage.

Without mentioning the obvious things that make the
Souls series so renowned — like stellar enemies, engrossing level design and satisfying slash - n - dodge gameplay —
there are specific gameplay aspects of Dark
Souls III that are returning from older From Software games.
Before
there were other far more glaring flaws that took precedence over Bungie's desire to draw influences from the
Souls series of games.
You've seen this come up when a new Dark
Souls game is released, and
there's a new round of questions over why the game doesn't include an «easy mode» to curb the
series» infamous difficulty so players could appreciate other parts, like the mythology.
For one, it's really just based on player positioning, while the other has more to do with the core mechanics of the game; Dead or Alive is a
series that's supposed to look fluid and feel like
there's a true 3D environment in a fashion that's very similar to
Soul Calibur.
There are aspects of the game that are impressive, such as the amount of environmental objects, and particle effects, but all in all, Dark
Souls III will look and feel very familiar to fans of the
series.
The team behind Stargate Network really is «making dreams come true» for fans of the Stargate
series as they've made the game incredibly detailed, managing to grab the
soul and heart of the universe, making you feel like your actually
there as you've exactly seen it in the movies and the shows.
While it's very similar to what's been already seen in the
Souls series,
there's enough here to set it apart, and I really dig the samurai setting.
I expected it to be that or related to DS in some way, Dark
Souls series is
there biggest seller by some distance, even though I like the
series, it annoys me how it blew up and over shadowed AC.
Upon entering The Ringed City,
there was an overwhelming sense that this is what the entire
Souls series was leading up to.

there's the rage inducing
Souls series.
The developer most recently best known for pioneering the
Souls series and genre held an Armored Core stream today where they were very clear
there would be no new game announcements, but that did not stop the FROM Software Twitter from assuaging fears.
Many fans of the Diablo
series were not happy with Diablo III, claiming
there was nowhere enough depth, and it seems like Blizzard is trying to change that with Reaper of
Souls.
The fact that the Legacy of Kain
series follows the «lives» of various vampires, it should come as no surprise that
there is a huge time jump between Blood Omen (the first game) and
Soul Reaver.
While
there may be some that would like a bit more story and cutscenes, I think that this is one of the main things that makes the
Souls series stand out.
I was waiting for this moment of revelation to blow me away,
there are reasons why I prefer Miyazaki's
Souls series over any given game today, and a majority of that love comes from his sense of level designing.
In the Dark

there can be tasks to make bosses easier, but you are free to attempt to beat the boss without the help.
Everything you know and love about the «
Souls»
series is present, but unlike Dark
Souls 2,
there is some new stuff as well.
Sure, Dark
Souls 3 isn't that different from previous entries in the
series and maybe not even all that challenging, but when a tried gameplay formula is executed to these levels of excellence,
there's very little to complain.
This is concerning because I feel that games within the
Souls family are some of the best out
there currently; it would be unfortunate to wear out the
series with too many games.
