Spaniel, formed in 1927 and revised in 1932, was made as nearly as possible to foster the natural ability of the Springer, while encouraging uniformity within the
breed.

standard on certain other
breeds of dogs, such as the Doberman, certain
spaniels, dachshunds, and black and tan coonhounds.

The French Bulldog

Though dogs of all ages and
breeds can develop cataracts, they are more commonly found in Smooth Fox Terriers, American Cocker
Spaniels, Havanese, Bichon Frise, Silky Terriers, Miniature and
Standard Poodles, Miniature Schnauzers, and Boston Terriers.
Certain
breeds are predisposed to Chronic Active Hepatitis, these include Bedlington Terriers, Doberman Pinschers, Skye Terriers,
Standard Poodles, Cocker
Spaniels and West Highland White Terriers.
Another theory is that the
standard longhair dachshund was developed by
breeding smooth dachshunds with various land and water
spaniels.
English Cocker
Spaniels, like many dog
breeds that originated as working dogs, have some genetic lines that focus on working dog skills and others that focus on ensuring that the dog's appearance conforms to a
breed standard.

And I felt sick to my stomach when I discovered that cocker
spaniels have beautiful, long, flowing tails, but American Kennel Club
breed standards call for their tails to be amputated down to nubs.

Spaniels by reading the AKC approved
breed standard.
Standard poodles are in the AKC non-sporting group but in the working dog 1 haplotype association scheme, Havanese are in the AKC toy group yet are categorized as haplotype working dog 1, and the AKC sporting group includes retriever and
spaniel breeds while the haplotype sharing approach splits those into two distinct groups.
