Still, Red
Sparrow does have some saving graces — all of which come courtesy of the film's stacked supporting cast.
But for all it's glossy production values, Red Sparrow doesn't feel like it's appealing to the Bond market.
And even when Red Sparrow doesn't work — and plenty of it doesn't — it carries through this idea of the human body no longer belonging to the mind occupying it.
In a Hollywood landscape where glossy, mature thrillers are an increasing rarity, Red Sparrow doesn't condescend to the audience, to the point that it becomes easier to enjoy the less you try to untangle its more disturbing plot points.
