The Humane Society of the United States and Humane Society International are pleased to announce that World
Spay Day takes place on Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013 during Spay / Neuter Awareness Month

With a capacity of 250 to 300 kittens at a time, managing the demand is a joint effort between the paid staff of 26 caregivers, 60 (and growing) volunteers, and a host of foster homes, who
take on litters of kittens to bottle - feed and care for at home for
days, a week, or as long as the eight weeks it
takes for a newborn kitten to be old enough to
spay or neuter.
Officially the last Tuesday of February,
Spay Day includes events and activities
taking place throughout February across the United States and U.S. territories, and around the world.
While our ultimate goal is to stop the intake of these kittens through outreach of targeted
spay / neuter and safety nets, until the

days upon entering the new shelter.

taking it to the shelter contracted for the area in which is was found, the law requires you to keep it for a minimum of 30
days before attempting to find it a new home or doing any non-emergency vet care such as vaccines and

20 dedicated bakers showed off their prowess at whipping up sweet treats, bearing the entire cost of their ingredients and
taking home nothing but the joy of having raised funds for the Cat Welfare Society's
Spay Day coming up in October.
After Your Application Is Approved Once your application has been approved and you have interacted with the animal and the animal is
spayed or neutered, you are able to
take the animal home the same
day.
