It's been nine years since Wes Anderson's sublime adaptation of Fantastic Mr.
Fox, but sadly his long - awaited return to
stop - motion animation has been preceded
by months of suggestions it's a product of cultural appropriation if not outright racism.
Utilizing the same
stop - motion style that gave
Fox its handmade charm, this new project has a more epic feel, aided
by voice work from Bryan Cranston and Anderson veterans Edward Norton, Bill Murray and Jeff Goldblum.
There it is revealed that Marty and Jennifer have a son and daughter, Marty Jr. and Marlene (both played
by Fox), and that they are in jeopardy, and if Marty Sr. doesn't
stop a certain event from happening, the future of the family will be in ruins.
Then we heard he would be directing The Fantastic Mr.
Fox, a
stop motion animated film based on a children's book
by Roald Dahl and it was exactly what I asked for.
Stop - motion animation is a painstakingly long process, one point made perfectly clear
by many of the excellent special features on the Criterion Dual Format Blu - ray - DVD combo of Wes Anderson «s 2009 Roald Dahl adaptation Fantastic Mr.
Fox.
On Nov. 13, you can bet I'll be in line to see Fantastic Mr.
Fox, a
stop motion film directed
by the great Wes Anderson.
