story, wherein families and cultures were able to choose life in multiple, even seemingly profligate, ways and find
support for their choices in the civic and international sphere.
Fun
story: at a
birth I did last year in another city south of where I live, I picked up mom's freebie «breastfeeding
support» bag, and then, with her sitting by, watching from her hospital bed as she breastfed her babe, I helped her methodically remove every piece of advertising for formula companies it contained.

i got in the shower & let the water meet my tears & something within me said - «this is the process sokhna, open to the process, open to the process»... that was the light... my mantra became «this is the process», & i returned to the bedroom... maria took my hands, looked me in the eyes & said «this is the process, sokhna...» i knew i was on my way... i rocked, squatted & allowed... maria checked me again & i was softening enough for maria to open the cervix the rest of the way... soon enough maria had massaged the cervix completely open & she told me to push... when she said this i filled with brilliance - i wanted to push, i wanted to feel it, i wanted to see wayana... in just a few pushes wayana kamalah lioneye ra was born - i held her as she came out - i looked at this little one & she looked at me & i told her i was her mother... kayenn came over & i saw a baby in him... this natural
birth birthed my heart... i suddenly knew what kayenn needed, what i needed & what wayana would need... the placenta came soon after & maria helped me to bed... i really just wanted to look at my 2 babies - to stand over them & beam light, gratitude & promises of infinite love &
support... i wanted a natural
birth, i had a natural
birth & it continues to this day... i am writing my
birth story on wayana's 15 month celebration...

supporting and profiting from the family's decision to
birth outside of the hospital.
Everything that is taught in the class
supports women and their partners to liberate themselves from the fear - based
stories that disempower the
birth process.
As the shop on Robie Street came together in 2009 so did
support for breastfeeding and
birth stories.
Without the BWF movement, I'm fairly certain that I would have been a disaster during the
birth of my baby girl, but from reading these amazing
birth stories from other moms on your blog and following your
support and inspiration through FB and IG and attending BWF meet ups, I had the strength I needed to
birth my baby regardless of the circumstances.
I wish I had sought out help and
support sooner to share about my
birth story as well as the postpartum depression to follow.
There is simply too many horrific hospital
birth fatalities, too many beautiful homebirth
stories, and too many studies that
support homebirth for the movement to die.

This looks different for every family but could include listening to the family's
birth stories, preparation of healthy postpartum meals and herbal teas, belly binding, preparation of sitz baths and / or vaginal steams, abdominal warming treatments, breastfeeding
support, assistance with pumping and bottle feeding, babywearing education and
support, infant massage and bathing education, and personalized rituals or ceremonies to mark milestones in the postpartum transition.

With guided
support the journey to the breast unfolds as a natural therapeutic process for integrating the

birth story with several contributing factors — both in her care and in her life — that converge to either
support or hinder the establishment of breastfeeding.

Most people back in the states think we are little crazy / can't believe we are doing this without family around etc, but truly we have never felt more
supported than the community of people in our village, and little did I know we moved to an area where most women prefer home
birth and have multiple
stories to share.
This is a home
birth story with conversation on what can happen after baby arrives and how you can use your empowering
birth experience to
support you in challenging postpartum times.
