Following her monumental installation in MASS MoCA's largest
gallery, Building 5, in 2007 — which marked her first indoor projection in the U.S. — Holzer returns with a campus - wide series of work that will include a large - scale outdoor projection on the River
Street side of the factory's complex titled For North Adams, 21 of her celebrated carved stone benches located throughout MASS MoCA's sprawling campus, an installation of her Inflammatory Essays posters, and rotating exhibitions of her work spanning the breadth of her career.

To tempt you off the beaten track and on to the train at Liverpool
Street for the 50 minute ride to Colchester, I would add that the
gallery itself is situated in rather lovely gardens and is of considerable architectural interest itself; it was only completed in 2011 and was designed by the Uruguayan architect Rafael Vinoly
following a major international competition.
He pursued these bleak interests in The
Street's second iteration, at the Reuben
Gallery the
following May, in which this skeletal figure hung from the ceiling, representing a stock character encountered on the
streets of the Lower East Side.

Following this, the artist made a series of changing rooms based again on his Pico studio in Leo Castelli's
galleries on Greene
Street and 420 West Broadway in New York City from 1986 to 1987; a cardboard room filled with «three tiny blue paper cutout birds» 5 in an attic of the Fridericianum museum at documenta IX, in Kassel, Germany, in 1992; the transformative Red Room, from 2000 to 2007, an installation resembling a janitor's storeroom of everything - but - the - kitchen - sink, exclusively in orange - to - deep - red colors; and Transparent Room, 2010, a mysterious and immensely heavy translucent structure with clear items to house and clothe a person, including a sink, bed, shirts, and shoes.
The artist will lead a march to the
gallery from 50 East 1st
Street starting at 2 p.m.,
followed by a poetry reading at 3:30 p.m.. On view until July 1.
