The
review scentists at Notebookcheck finished their ASUS T100 Chi
review last month and I've just read through it and compared it, virtually, with the
Surface 3 and the Dell Venue 10
Pro I
reviewed last week.
The usual suspects got their
Surface Pro 4 devices before anyone else and have been allowed to publish their
reviews.
No, it's not my
review (I was 6 months behind the curve with my
Surface Pro 3
review,) it's the Anandtech
review.
As I wrote in my original
review, «hopefully, the
Surface with Windows
Pro, which is aimed at businesses, will be more repair - friendly.»
For storage, our
review unit is equipped with a 128 GB solid - state drive (SSD), though the $ 499 base model only offers 64 GB — putting it on par with the Acer Aspire Switch 11 (SW5 -171-325N), which also has a 128 GB SSD, but only half the capacity of the premium - priced
Surface Pro 3 (256 GB SSD).
And like all of those other new Windows 8 machines (except the ThinkPad Twist), the $ 1000
Surface Pro comes with a 128 GB SSD (a $ 900, 64 GB version of
Surface Pro is also available, but we didn't get one in for
review).

review looks at this Microsoft
Surface Pro clone that offers a very similar 2 - in - 1 experience.
Users can also purchase two available keyboards for use with the
Surface Pro — the Touch Cover and the Type Cover, the latter of which has dedicated keys and was used in the
review by TPCR, which found the keyboard to be a «joy to use» but noted the built - in track pad mouse is frustrating.
But for all its promise, the
Surface Pro doesn't sound any better than the Dell XPS 12 I
reviewed a couple of weeks ago.
At Daring Fireball, John Gruber runs a list of quotations from
reviews of the just - released Microsoft
Surface Pro, all of which contain «the C word»: compromise.
The Microsoft
Surface Pro 3 is truly a laptop replacement and has received some glowing
reviews, which certainly could not be said of the preceding two generations of the
Surface.
In one sense, its a direct competitor to the
Surface Pro, but with more configuration flexibility — our
review unit is the $ 499 Intel Atom CPU version, while both Core i3 and Core i5 versions are available for up to $ 849.

The Microsoft
Surface Pro 3 got a solid
review from David Pogue on Yahoo! Tech, with the only caveat being that you are unlikely to want to splurge on this tablet if you only want to replace an existing tablet, rather than replace both a tablet and a laptop.
The
Surface Pro 4 is a refined version of the original
Surface Pro, which I called «brilliant, quirky, and flawed» in my original
review.
Here is our in - depth

For my first look at the
Surface Pro 4, last October, I used a Microsoft - supplied
review unit.
But I was impressed enough with that initial experience to purchase my own
Surface Pro 4, configured with 16 GB of RAM (an 8 GB bump from the
review unit), with the same i5 processor and 256 GB of solid state storage.
It has given unfavorable, sometimes even scathing
reviews on products like the new MacBook
Pro, the Microsoft
Surface line, and even the Tesla Model S. Although less damning this time, the magazine isn't awarding the iPhone X a glowing recommendation, especially over its iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus siblings.
Concerns about reliability of the
Surface line - up as a whole have prompted the
review organization to backtrack on its awards, in addition to suggesting that the
Surface Pro shouldn't be among your top considerations for a 2 - in - 1 hybrid, either.

Back in 2015, I
reviewed the Microsoft
Surface Pro 3 for Adorama and was very quickly convinced that Microsoft was definitely onto something.
Then I decided to invest in a
Surface Pro, after reading some glowing
reviews from other Windows Central team members, particularly from our Executive Editor Daniel Rubino.
Back in March of 2013 we

Surface Pro, and established that it can most certainly replace your laptop provided you adapt to the small 10 ″ screen, buy the Type Cover keyboard instead of the Touch Cover, and learn to use the stylus instead of a trackpad or mouse.
