Being able to pause a game on my TV, snag
the Switch out of the Dock, and keep playing is a convenience I didn't think I needed.

dock, attach a controller - or Joy - Con - to either side and enjoy it as a handheld.
The
Switch tablet slides in and
out of the
dock from the top, which means it can't sit on a shelf under a TV like a conventional console.
More importantly, the
Switch's undocked performance
of Breath
of the Wild is an even more stellar champion than the
docked version, as Eurogamer's analysis found
out.

out there for every type
of Switch owner, from cases and battery packs for portable players to extra controllers and
docks for folks who game at home.

The immense feeling
of smugness and self satisfaction I get from snapping the Joy - Cons onto the
Switch and lifting it
out of its
dock makes the purchase worthwhile, and will never get old.

out of town, or to a friend's house or something, you can bring your
Switch over and play home console games no matter where you are, then bring it back home, click it into the
dock, and continue the game.
The Nintendo
Switch is fully capable
of delivering a quality experience as players move through a swirling maze
of madness, just be prepared to
dock to a television on occasion when details on the smaller screen are too difficult to make
out.
It'll dawn on you just as you slot it in and
out of the
dock — you don't even need a TV to experience everything the
Switch can — and will — do.
So now you just need to head on over to your TV
of choice,
dock the
Switch and tweak your settings so the colours don't seem so washed
out.
Blake stripped
out the insides
of the SP and carved a hole above and inside the screen so that the
dock connector would be protected and the
Switch tablet could receive some back support.
The
Switch's neat little trick is being able lift a central screen
out of the
dock by inserting those two Joy - Con controllers into its sides.

The Nintendo
Switch dock is made
out of plastic and, unlike the
Switch, is rather light.
Out of its
dock, the
Switch seems larger than the Nintendo 3DS XL so that should mean the battery is larger.
Slotting the Nintendo
Switch into and
out of the
dock is easy and, much to our approval, seems to be designed so that screen scratches are not an issue, with the
dock port securely holding the
Switch well clear
of the
dock's interior walls.
