Tales have been with the LEGO series since 2005, when the first of their movie -
based games, LEGO Star Wars, hit our screens with a blocky bang.
In Monster Hunter Stories you team up with cute variations of monsters and engage in turn -
based battles, and as the name makes clear story - telling will be key; no doubt going beyond the limited
tales shared in the main series
games.

I don't shy away from the fact that I enjoy action roleplaying
games like Ys, Star Ocean, and the
Tales of franchise more than I do turn -
based roleplaying
games like a lot of old school JRPG's and The Legend of Heroes series.
Rather than the staid, turn -
based battles of the «Final Fantasy» series, «
Tales of Destiny» embraced something that looked like a side - scrolling action
game and played like a fighting
game.
The
Tales games have always, rightly, avoided turn
based combat and it's a mystery why the system on show here hasn't been adopted by other
games.
One's a lighthearted story of a hunter while the other is one telling the grim
tale of a fallen warrior, one that will eventually meet their own demise
based upon the player's choices while the other is truly about grinding out the end -

Andrew: As mentioned above, the
Tales series has a pretty devoted fan
base here, and I'm absolutely sure that they would love to see some of the newer
Tales games (such as
Tales of Graces) make it over to the States.

based meal with Another World creator Eric Chahi, listen to luminaries from
Tale of
Tales and Naughty Dog interview one another, play a soon - to - be-classic XBLA
game in its creator's front room and gorge on Zelda - themed cake?
