Taskbar settings are now integrated into the new Settings app, and you can access them at Settings > Personalization > Taskbar.
On
the Taskbar settings screen, click the «Use Peek to preview the desktop when you move your mouse to the Show desktop button at the end of the taskbar» slider button so it turns white and reads Off.
If visible, this icon can be turned off from within
Taskbar Settings.

the taskbar settings page, scroll down toward the bottom and click the «Turn system icons on or off» link.
We're happy to announce that for the first time since the taskbar was created, if you have multiple monitors and

The only options you have in the menu, volume control, no video
settings, no sound
settings, no actual fullscreen unless you hide the
taskbar and then hit f11, f11 like you would with a internet browser.
A Control Panel shortcut now appears in the Modern «Change PC
Settings» menu and you can pin Modern apps to the desktop
taskbar — a first step in cross-environment integration but remember there's no floating Windows Store apps in the desktop yet and no changes to the Start Menu.

If you're connected via Wi - Fi, click the Wi - Fi icon in the system tray at the far right of your
taskbar, and then click the «Network
settings» link.
Thankfully, you can easily change this
setting in the
Taskbar Properties.
For example, if you
set the Volume icon to «Off» here, it won't appear on your
taskbar at all.
If you still prefer to see apps on your
taskbar, there is an option under Tablet Mode in
Settings to turn them back on.
We fixed an issue resulting in the
Settings icon appearing plating in the
taskbar.

In the
Settings app under Personalization, you can adjust the color of Start,
Taskbar, and Action Center as well as transparency.

In a continuation of our battery life work for the Windows 10 Creators Update, some of you will start seeing a new slider in the power flyout on the
Taskbar in this build (this is enabled only on select PCs currently, and is not yet wired up to performance / power
settings — we have enabled it to get early feedback):
Clicking on networks or VPN connections in the network flyout on the
taskbar doesn't launch the network
settings page like it should.
The «Restore Default
Taskbar Transparency» hack
sets the value back to 0.
With that option
set, there's no search box or icon on the
taskbar, but you can still access Cortana's full feature
set by tapping the Windows key and typing.
The «Enable High
Taskbar Transparency» hack creates the UseOLEDTaskbarTransparency value and
sets it to 1.
To make your Windows 10
taskbar more transparent, you just need to make an adjustment to one
setting in the Windows Registry.
But, with a little Registry magic, you can enable a
setting that gives the
taskbar an even higher level of transparency.
For those who prefer to use Command Prompt, you can opt out of the WIN + X change by opening
Settings > Personalization >
Taskbar, and turning «Replace Command Prompt with Windows PowerShell in the menu when I right - click the Start button or press Windows key + X» to «Off».
To check your network's
settings go to the desktop, right click the network symbol in the
taskbar (usually the lower right corner of the screen), and then click «Open Network and Sharing Center».
Don't worry global
Taskbar fans, you can have it your way with just a
settings change: Settings app > System > Multitasking > Virtual D
settings change:
Settings app > System > Multitasking > Virtual D

For quickly turning a network connection into Metered Connection, click or tap the network icon in the
taskbar, then right click the network you wish to turn on as Metered Connection, and select
Set as metered connection.

settings is enabled.
That said, Microsoft did add some
settings to the
Taskbar properties that lets you turn down the Start screen's presence.
To do this, head to
Settings > Personalization >
Taskbar > Turn System Icons On or Off.
It consumes very little
taskbar space and therefore the most preferred
setting.
Be sure to click the Cortana search bar on the Windows
taskbar first and provide your name to
set Cortana up.
You could type
Settings in the
taskbar search bar and click on the result or you could open it via Notifications in the right - side of your
taskbar, by clicking on All
Settings to open the Windows 10
Settings app.
To access the theme options, first you'll need to bring up the notification center from the bottom right hand corner of your
taskbar, where you'll find the «
Settings» button.
On Windows 8, the same option available in Windows 10's
Settings is available on the
Taskbar tab.
