The Keynote Address and Ted - Ed Talks In the month
leading up to the
PD, school admins would invite all
teachers to apply for a chance to give either the keynote address or an ED - Talk on the day of the
PD.
Most NWP - affliated satellite projects (usually tethered to a university) will run multiple week - long Summer Institutes, where
teachers write, research and teach as part of
teacher -

When our district began refining its instructional vision in 2012, we turned to Powerful Learning Practices and Sheryl Nussbaum - Beach as a necessary first step to help

The DCI designs and

PD calendar and collaborates regularly with Division Directors, Deans, Associate Directors and the Director of
Teacher Residency.
We are a diverse team of five
teachers who worked together to gather input from
teachers across the district, conduct research from
leading experts and meet Chicago - area stakeholders to form key policy recommendations for improving

teachers» instruction may be evidenced by student learning gains within that content area; the grant faculty
PD institutes were designed to meet the criteria for effective
PD, which were mapped to relevant core content standards and should, thus,
lead to student learning gains (as asserted in Loucks - Horsley et al., 2010).

The emphasis on fulfilling
PD requirements, which are generally measured in «seat time,» can
lead to
teachers taking courses that have little to do with what they want or need to improve their craft.
Lead STEM
teachers by doing their own experiments and posting themselves on YouTube during summer monthly
PD sessions to experience first hand.
