Preparation that occurs at the outset (i.e., prior to engaging in

practice) is important to get
teacher leaders started, but designers of preparation programs should be purposeful about what this
portion of preparation is meant to accomplish.

First, I will say that as a former person in charge of
teacher preparation in the state of New York that the

teacher candidates to have longer residencies and we're thinking about ways in which
teacher candidates are participating in coursework and

teacher practices like the in - class deterrents, the school created a committee for academic integrity, implemented a new list of standards, and wove discussions about honesty into a major
portion of the agenda.

practices in implementing the Second Step Program.
