Employment opportunities
offered to our recent BFA grads include working as an artist's assistant, starting their own design / build firm, art handling and preparing, development assistant at the Rothko Chapel, web design, display design and installation, curating exhibitions, assisting with commercial photo and film shoots, interning at the Contemporary Arts
Museum, Houston, and
teaching, just to name a few.
We work with other print publishers, book publishers, galleries, residencies, universities, and
museums giving lectures,
teaching workshops, and co-producing projects, and
offer a limited number of studio apprenticeships annually.
In January of this year, l had the opportunity to take a course focusing on the Franklin D. Murphy Sculpture Garden,
offered through the UCLA Digital Humanities department and
taught by a staff member at the Hammer
Museum.
In addition, the
museum offers the Summer Institutes:
Teaching the Humanities through Art, week - long professional development workshops that introduce educators to methods for incorporating American art and technology into their humanities curricula.
Craft workshops: The Houston Center for Contemporary Craft, 4848 Main St. in the
Museum District, will
offer the following workshops: Slide Slam; Saturday, 10 a.m. - 3 p.m., Traditional Origami
taught by Joan Son, $ 67; May 31, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m., Tapestry Baskets with Lynn Gammon, $ 90.
The Zimmerli is a
teaching museum with diverse collections and dynamic programming which
offer something for everyone.
