Tim Eitel (b. 1971, Leonburg, Germany) conveys a deep command
of color,
technique, and form in his
figurative paintings inspired by his observations
of contemporary life and
art history.
Marrinon received the Anne & Gordon Samstag International Visual
Arts Scholarship in 2001, which enabled her to attend the New York Academy
of Art, where she was introduced to traditional
techniques of figurative sculpture and gained a greater technical understanding
of human anatomy.

techniques, poses and patterns
of the grand tradition

of culture.

art - making, it is striking how you have circled and constantly returned to a diverse range
of genres, modes
of reproduction and printing
techniques while exploring both
figurative and abstract images, and that all
of these approaches still find their place in your recent exhibitions and publications, such as Manual (2007).
The exhibition will feature some 100 works by the French artist, a key - figure
of Art Brut, who through a manifold production, by experimenting materials and
techniques, prominently contributed to the 20th century
figurative arts.
Participants will live and create on campus while exploring their choice
of book
arts, watercolors, Shibori dye
techniques, shoe design,

The exhibition reveals visual affinities between the three artists» work, tracing the impact
of Dubuffet's
art brut (
art by the mentally ill and other so - called outsiders), the experimental spirit
of Pollock's
technique, and Ossorio's
figurative language.

George Condo appeared on the international
art scene in the early 1980s with a series
of phony old - master paintings, works that borrowed from canonized
techniques to render disfigured portraits, subsuming the apparently contradictory tendencies
of the moment: a resurgence
of figurative painting and a predominant critical discourse on appropriation.
Her abstract painterly
techniques and
figurative glyphs are well married and suggest a personal dialogue with other artists and
art history; I happened to think
of such different painters as Lois Lane, Gael Stack, Charles Marburg, and Clint Jukkala.
