ThankYou Preferred card doesn't offer bonuses on any other types of everyday purchases, such as groceries or gas, making it a poor choice for cardholders who would
prefer to use just one card.
I don't use my Citi Prestige card for unbonused spend — I
prefer to use my Starwood Amex card for all my unbonused spend as I value Starpoints over Citi
ThankYou points.
I can't say this is a big loss to me as I
prefer to use my
ThankYou points for other purposes... but others may find this disappointing.

Look at the different transfer partners for Chase Ultimate Rewards, American Express Membership Rewards, and Citi
Thankyou Points and see if there are any partners that you
prefer over any others.
Of the cards below, I
prefer to use the American Express Membership Rewards cards to transfer miles to Singapore Airlines, but I have also transferred from Chase Ultimate Rewards and Citi
ThankYou in the past.
Remember that depending on your Citi card and your
preferred airline, your Citi points can be valued at 1.25 cents (Premier
ThankYou card), 1.33 cents (Prestige card) and 1.6 cents per point (Prestige card on American).
Of course, if your
preferred redemption is on Aeromexico, for example, then it is better to redeem points through the
ThankYou portal since there are no convenient methods to transfer points to Aeromexico.
While
ThankYou points will continue to get the most value when redeemed for travel, there are people who still
prefer cold hard cash.
And as transferable points currencies go, I
prefer Chase Ultimate Rewards points to Citi
ThankYou points since it transfers to additional travel partners that I find useful: Singapore KrisFlyer, which Citi
ThankYou points also transfer to, and also Korean SkyPass, British Airways Avios, United MileagePlus and Hyatt Gold Passport, among others.
However, if you
prefer to use your rewards points on domestic travel, Chase Sapphire Preferred ® is the better option, because Citi
ThankYou ® Premier's points transfer program includes fewer airlines and most are international.
