The standout is the oh - so - close capture of
Thanos by the Guardians, Iron Man, Strange, and Spidey, that is ruined when one character has an ill - timed hissy fit of a type that we've all seen too many times before.

We're speculating, but so far, the MCU has been building to the arrival of
Thanos (played
by Josh Brolin), a super-powered being shown in «The Avengers» and «
Guardians of the Galaxy» who will collect a series of Infinity Stones on an Infinity Gauntlet that we assume will create massive problems for the Avengers.

by Thanos where he acquired the Power Stone from the Nova Corps - where audiences last saw it at the end of the first
Guardians movie.
They use the camera in an expressive or poetic way so rarely that when they do bust out a heartfelt flourish (like the long, slow camera move that reveals the
Guardians in their spaceship engaged in a sing - along, or the «wipes» that reveal the reality that
Thanos» illusions hide, or a climatic fight between
Thanos and multiple heroes) it's as if somebody had briefly sparked a dull wedding reception to life
by going out on the dance floor and demanding a song with a backbeat.
«He's really difficult to write for,» said Whedon, who suggested the initial Avengers cameo almost as a lark, though the character has become pivotal to most Marvel movies since then, as
Thanos (played
by Josh Brolin) pursues six Infinity Stones that have now popped up in places like
Guardians of the Galaxy and Thor: The Dark World.
It is the culmination of everything Marvel Studios has been working toward
by finally pitting
Thanos against Earth's Mightiest Heroes and the

Okay, so we know he got beat up
by Ronan during the first
Guardians of the Galaxy film, but let's be honest, Drax could probably take
Thanos.

Thanos is nigh omnipotent with his trusty Infinity Gauntlet, the character is also one of the most powerful beings in the Universe even without the glove — a fact stated
by Korath, Gamora and Nebula in
Guardians of the Galaxy.
The
Guardians of the Galaxy led
by Peter Quill (Chris Pratt, Passengers, 2016) hear Thor's distress call and arrive on the scene to help, although it's too late as
Thanos has taken the Space Stone already.
Gamora and Nebula were taken at a young age and raised
by Thanos, and in the first «
Guardians» movies, they serve as his agents.
In the film,
Thanos will be played
by Josh Brolin, and Nebula, a character who appeared in
Guardians of the Galaxy, will be played once more
by Karen Gillan.

by Russo brothers, this one will have the Avengers joining forces with the
Guardians of the Galaxy to take on
Thanos, who is trying to collect the Infinity Stones.
Starring actors like Robert Downey Jr (Iron Man), Chris Evans (Captain America), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Benedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Strange), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Mark Ruffalo (Hulk), Chris Pratt (Star Lord) and Tom Holland (Spider - Man), the film will have the Avengers teaming up with the
Guardians of the Galaxy to fight against the supervillain
Thanos, played

He's not in
Guardians too much, only in the flesh once and again later in the film as a hologram, but
by the end of the movie there's no question that
Thanos is going to be the Marvel Cinematic Universe's big bad for the next five years until the third Avengers film.
